Support the Zeta Psi
Government Relations Program!
What is this?
Zeta Psi, along with all other Fraternities & Sororities, has launched a government relations program to advance critical legislation that is important to Greeks and Greek life. Our primary legislative goal is passage of CHIA, the Collegiate Housing Infrastructure Act, which would make all donations to buy, build, or upgrade Chapter Houses tax-deductible. This would be a huge benefit to Zeta Psi and provide vital economic stimulus to the battered housing industry, insure modern housing for all Greeks, and save student lives!
How are we doing it?
Within Zeta Psi, we’re asking each Elder Chapter and each Active Chapter (US only) to appoint a Government Relations Chairman (GRC) to coordinate our efforts.
What do GRC’s do?
Zeta Psi GRC’s work to raise awareness of CHIA at their campus and/or amongst their alumni. GRC’s encourage members (Active & Elder) to register online to write or petition their representatives on behalf of CHIA using the CFC Website and Facebook application; solicit letters of support from their University presidents, local fire chiefs, and local builders’ associations; and spearhead periodic phone-marches to call Congress and ask them to pass CHIA.
How are we doing so far?
In the 2007-2008 Election cycle, Zeta Psi actively supported this effort. 76 Zetes signed up at the CFC Website (27th out of 95 groups) and 48 Zetes signed up at the CFC Facebook application (5th out of 57 groups). Additionally, DC area Zetes are actively involved in the leadership of the CFC, and many active and elder Brothers participated in various calling, email, and other efforts - and 3 undergraduates have attended the annual Greek Lobbying Day so far. This is a great start and we CAN do more!
